BÌNH ĐỊNH - The Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in the central Bình Định Province has said three local fishing boats off Hoài Nhơn District were in distress at sea.

The vessel BĐ 96552 TS, headed by Trương Văn Nam and manned by 13 crew members, was drifting in the sea following engine failure on Monday.

The vessel had not received any help as of yesterday morning, the committee’s office said.

The office has asked border guards, the fisheries department and the people’s committee of Hoài Nhơn District to contact the boat and to ask for help from nearby vessels.

In another instance, a boat could not reach the shore after its engine failed, when the crew members were fishing on Tuesday.

Engine failure also prevented a third vessel from reaching the shore, while it was on the way to Tam Quan Port.

The committee reported the incidents to the national committee and called for help from agencies in neighbouring provinces. - VNS
