13 drug traffickers sentenced in Lang Son

Eleven drug smugglers were sentenced to death while two other defendants received sentences of life imprisonment for storing, trafficking and trading more than 280 kilos of heroin at an eight-day-long court session in the northern province of Lạng Sơn that ended yesterday.

LẠNG SƠN — Eleven drug smugglers were sentenced to death while two other defendants received sentences of life imprisonment for storing, trafficking and trading more than 280 kilos of heroin at an eight-day-long court session in the northern province of Lạng Sơn that ended yesterday.

The 12 men and one woman, including some who are family relatives coming from Lạng Sơn, Vĩnh Phúc and Hà Nội, were found guilty of the trafficking of 799 cakes of heroin between 2013 and 2014.

The drugs were transported from Sơn La, Hòa Bình and Hà Nội to Lạng Sơn before being trafficked to China through the border.

The death sentences went to Hoàng Văn Sự, 36, Chu Văn Tuyên, 39, Chu Văn Cung, 35, Chu Văn Viện, 33, Lý Văn Lâm, 33, Nguyễn Thanh Thăng, 31, Hoàng Văn Hóa, 31, Ngô Đại An, 28, Nguyễn Văn Hiển, 35, Nguyễn Văn Tám, 38, and Lê Xuân Việt, 37.
