QUẢNG NINH – Border guards at the Móng Cái International Border Gate with China, in the northern province of Quảng Ninh, confirmed yesterday that the three kilos of white-coloured crystal they had seized two days earlier were illegal drugs.

Last Friday, the border guards caught Nguyễn Văn Vấn from the central province of Thanh Hóa transporting three nylon bags of the crystal, which was then tested and found to be methamphetamine and anesthetic ketamine.

Vấn confessed to the police that he was paid VNĐ10 million (US$450) to transport the drugs from China to the northern city of Hải Phòng.

The case is under further investigation. — VNS
