HÀ NỘI — Seven fishermen from the central province of Quảng Bình returned home safely on Sunday after their ship was hit by a Philippine cargo vessel and sunk near the waters of Côn Đảo Island in central Quảng Trị Province on July 4.
Nguyễn Bá Lục, 20, said the Philippine cargo vessel conducted search and rescue work right after the incident and brought the Vietnamese fishermen on board, where they were provided with food and medical checks.
The fishermen from Quảng Bình’s Cảnh Dương Commune, Quảng Trạch District, stayed on the Philippine vessel for four days pending completion of a local investigation.
They later completed the necessary procedures to travel through Malaysia and fly home. — VNS
