HCM CITY — The HCM City Department of Transport on Monday set up weighstations at three bridges to deter overloaded vehicles from crossing them.

Situated on either side of Giồng Ông Tố and Kỳ Hà 1 bridges in District 2 and Ông Lớn Bridge in District 7, they work round-the-clock, automatically detecting overloaded vehicles and transmitting the data to computers.

Overloaded trucks will be stopped for weighing again and issued with fines.

An official at the Transport Inspection Team No.6 responsible for Ông Lớn Bridge said the weighstation would help effectively monitor overloaded vehicles. — VNS
