President extends condolences over Iraqi bomb attack

President Trần Đại Quang yesterday cabled a message of condolences to his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Masum over a terror bombing in the Iraqi capital of Bagdad that claimed the lives of at least 165 people and wounded over 131 others.

HÀ NỘI – President Trần Đại Quang yesterday cabled a message of condolences to his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Masum over a terror bombing in the Iraqi capital of Bagdad that claimed the lives of at least 165 people and wounded over 131 others.

The bombing, which occurred in the Karrada-Dakhil District in southern Baghdad, is the bloodiest attack this year in Iraq, according to foreign media.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced three days of national mourning for the victims after he visited the blast site on Sunday. — VNS
