AN GIANG – Border guards at the Vĩnh Hội Đông Border Gate in southern An Giang Province have arrested four people for allegedly smuggling in goods and money over the Cambodian border.
The four, all Cambodians aged between 24 and 36, have been handed over to the police, the Border Guard said.
The suspects were spotted on the morning of March 27 in a small boat travelling at high speed from Cần Na Canal in Cambodia’s Tà Keo Province into Việt Nam and apprehended by the Border Guard.
A search of the boat found 49.81 taels of gold, VNĐ986.85 million and 809,000 riel in cash and four mobile phones totally worth nearly VNĐ3 billion (nearly US$130,000). —VNS.
