HÀ NỘI (VNS) — Deputy Transport Minister Nguyễn Ngọc Đông has awarded a commemoration medal to JICA Chief Representative, Mutsuya Mori, for his contribution to the development of the country’s transport sector.
The award ceremony took place this morning at the transport ministry’s headquarters.
Đông thanked Mori and the Japan International Co-operation (JICA) office in Việt Nam, as well as its headquarters in Japan, for their contribution to the development of Việt Nam’s transport infrastructure in terms of commitment, finance and human resources.
He said their support played a vital role in the completion of several major projects in Việt Nam, such as the construction of Nhật Tân Bridge and Terminal 2 of Nội Bài international airport, as well as other projects in HCM City, Đà Nẵng City and Quảng Ngãi Province.
He wished Mori success with his new position in Japan and hoped to collaborate with him in the future.
Mori, who started working in Việt Nam in June 2013, will finish his term and return to Japan shortly.
For his part, Mori expressed his gratitude towards having been able to participate in every project of the ministry, and for getting the opportunity to work in 59 cities and provinces of Việt Nam.
He appreciated the importance of the transport sector in the economic and social development of the country, as well as the opportunities and challenges that came with it.
He said he hoped that in two years’ time, he would have the opportunity to work with Việt Nam again and to continue contributing to the transport sector. — VNS
