HCM CITY (VNS) — The Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs yesterday joined hands with concerned organisations to detect and seize a woman who was smuggling cocaine from Brazil to Viet Nam.

The 48-year-old woman, whose name was not revealed by the police, is a resident of HCM City's District 8.

The police and customs officials discovered 1.84kg cocaine, worth more than VND5 billion (US$222,200), hidden inside four stone eagle statues that were among hundreds of other eagle statues in an iron bucket.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the police to continue their investigation into the case to seize the other traffickers involved in it. — VNS
