JAKARTA (VNS) — Indonesian authorities, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta, completed procedures to repatriate 10 Vietnamese fishermen yesterday.
The fishermen, due to their limited foreign language skills and a lack of legal knowledge, were arrested and put on trial for violating Indonesian territory.
Most of them have been detained from a few months to two years.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy, Indonesian authorities will release around 30 Vietnamese fishermen from now until the Lunar New Year (February 8).
On Wednesday, three fishermen were sent home. — VNS
