HCM CITY (VNS) — A project to improve meals at primary schools that began in HCM City in 2012 will be expanded to two schools in Hà Nội.
The project standardises menus and creates tools for schools to educate students about nutrition, according to Takaaki Nishii, president and CEO of Ajinomoto Company Inc in Japan.
Speaking at a press meeting held on Tuesday in HCM City, Takaaki said the project was part of Ajinomoto Việt Nam's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, which focus on education in Việt Nam.
The project developers have also donated menu development software and a standard model of a kitchen to the primary schools.
As of last year, the project had served 213 primary schools in HCM City, 72 in Đà Nẵng and 100 in Hải Phing.
The company has also co-operated with the National Nutrition Institute and medical universities in HCM City and Hà Nội to set up training programmes for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in nutrition. — VNS
