QUANG NGAI (VNS) — Fishing vessels in the central Quang Ngai Province have received 35 marine radios from the provincial Red Cross.

The Red Cross yesterday gave free marine radios to each vessel owner in the two districts of Mo Duc and Duc Pho.

Twenty fishermen in Quang Ngai City and 10 in Ly Son Island District would also receive the radios, a Red Cross representative said.

The organisation is giving away radios worth VND811 million (US$40,000).

Le Truong Son, vice-chairman of the Red Cross, said the equipment would help fishermen to communicate easily with each other and to contact the authorities to report any incident.

All the fishermen would be trained to use the machine, he said. — VNS
