HA NOI (VNS) — The Ha Noi High Command and Ha Noi Police last year discovered four cases of illegal use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The municipal Department of Industrial and Trade, in co-ordination with the city police, detected three shops selling 120 UAVs that did not have trading permits and legal bills.
Colonel Bui Trong Quynh, deputy commander of the Ha Noi High Command, said that recently the city high command joined hands with different departments, districts' authorities and the air defence forces to manage flying objects to sustainably protect the capital's airspace.
This year, the city high command will be equipped with more tools to improve its management capacity, check and maintain the system of air defence alarm whistles and better protect political events and big public holiday ceremonies in the capital.
Colonel Nguyen Van Tam, head of the Air Defence Division under the Ha Noi High Command, said that the city's air defence militiamen forces were always on alert following the General Staff's guidance.
The air defence militiamen were equipped with weapons based on the decision by the city authorities, he said. — VNS
