LANG SON (VNS) — A sixteen-year-old boy in the northern province of Lang Son died yesterday afternoon after an electricity pole suddenly came crashing down on him.

Nguyen Trung Anh, an 11th grade student of Cao Loc High school, was waiting for the traffic lights to change at an intersection in Cao Loc Town, when the eight-metre long pole came down crushing him and his bicycle.

Anh was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved due to his severe injuries.

Witnesses at the scene said that a group of power company workers were cutting the electricity pole to replace it with a new one, VnExpress e-newspaper reported.

The initial investigations blamed the lack of responsibility on the part of the workers while they were attempting to replace the pole.

Head of Cao Loc District's police Bui Van Dien said that the police were investigating further. When there had gathered enough evidence, they would prosecute the persons who caused the accident, he added. — VNS
