DA NANG (VNS) — An unidentified ship hit and sank a fishing vessel from Quang Ngai Province in the sea of Viet Nam, the local border force said yesterday.

The fishing vessel QNg 98459 TS captain Huynh Thach said that his ship was travelling in the sea of Quang Tri Province, 60 nautical miles off the provincial Con Co Island around Friday noon, when a strange steel ship hit from left side twice.

Thach said the hit threw seven sailors to the sea and sank the ship.

He told border guards that the strange ship didn't attempt to save the sailors.

The ship, with its 10-member crew aboard, was towed to Tho Quang fishing port on Saturday by a group of fishing ships nearby.

The case is under investigation in co-ordination with other agencies. — VNS
