HCM CITY (VNS) — The HCM City Police's environmental police department and the animal health department have seized about two tonnes of contaminated pork.

The meat was found when the authorities conducted a sudden inspection of an outlet that supplied poultry and cattle products in District 12.

Cao Chi Dong, 38, the owner of the outlet, failed to showed valid papers for the meat, which was found to be contaminated and had a foul stench.

The outlet was reportedly being run without a business licence for a long time.

Dong told police that the meat had been transported from the northern provinces by passenger buses and was to be supplied to restaurants in the city and the southern provinces.

The meat was later destroyed by the concerned authorities. — VNS
