HA NOI (VNS) — President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong yesterday presented a friendship medal to Bob Roberts, chairman of Global Ventures, Inc (GVI).

The noble award was in recognition of Roberts' active contributions to promoting humanitarian activities in Viet Nam, as well as strengthening the friendship between Viet Nam and the US, Hong said at the ceremony in Ha Noi.

He expressed his hope that the GVI chairman would continue to support Viet Nam in the future.

Roberts, also senior pastor of the US Northwood Church, has raised about US$3.5 million for disadvantaged communities in Viet Nam since 1995 though GVI programmes in the fields of health care and education.

He and his organisation have sent over 2,000 American volunteers to Viet Nam to participate in community support activities, while helping to promote the Southeast Asian nation's image in the US public. — VNS
