SEOUL (VNS) — Police discovered the bodies of a Korean man, his Vietnamese ex-wife and their six-year-old daughter in Sindonim, Guro District, southwest of Seoul, the Republic of Korea, early on Monday.
Based on evidence found at the site, police said 51-year-old Cho from Korea had hanged himself, while his 31-year-old ex-wife was strangled to death and their little daughter was smothered with a pillow in a nearby car.
Police also found an alleged suicide note from Cho inside the car, in which he accused his ex-wife of having duped him into a fake marriage. The note said he had killed his wife and daughter over the alleged deception and issues of child custody after their divorce in 2013.
The couple married in April 2008, but got divorced after five and a half years. The woman had obtained Korean citizenship during that time.
After the divorce, she married a Vietnamese man and the couple lived with the child in Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province, 320km southeast of Seoul.
According to local newspapers, she refused child support offered by Cho to get custody of their child.
The case is under further investigation. — VNS
