Volunteers step up for special day

HCM CITY (VNS) — HCM City celebrated International Volunteers Day on Saturday with many activities, including visits of 1,000 volunteers to a hospital oncology ward and free photo sessions at shelters and parks for patients, disadvantaged children, and the elderly.

At the HCM City Oncology Hospital in Binh Thanh District, the Communist Youth Union handed out free meals to patients and relatives.

The Green Dream Club's Receiving Clay Piggy Bank for Savings - Sharing Love" activity yesterday gave children a clay piggy bank in which to save money. Funds were also raised for children living in mountainous areas.

The Viet Nam Youth Federation collected notebooks to given to the disadvantaged. — VNS
