THUA THIEN - HUE (VNS) — The remains of six soldiers were found buried in the garden of a resident of Khanh My Hamlet, Phong Dien Town, central Thua Thien Hue Province, on Tuesday.

The bodies were exhumed and later interred in Phong Dien District Cemetery yesterday.

The remains were discovered when the resident dug up the soil on the property to set a foundation for a new house.

The district's military commander dispatched 30 staff members to investigate the remains. The team found some of the soldiers' belongings, including jackets, bowls and bags.

Resident Truong Cong Cuong said Khanh My Hamlet had been the site of a fierce battle during the Spring Mau Than 1968 General Offensive and Uprising. Other local residents have also found soldiers' remains buried on their property under similar circumstances. — VNS
