PM wants fast work on airport

HCM CITY (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has instructed ministries and other agencies involved to speed up construction of Long Thanh International Airport near HCM City.

He tasked the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province, where the airport will be built, with making zoning plans for an area to relocate families moved out to make way for the airport, develop the area and do a feasibility study for the airport.

The resettlement area will be approved after the feasibility study is.

The provincial authorities have been instructed to work with the ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, and Transport to arrange funding to build the airport.

The transport ministry will help Vietnam Airlines to conduct the feasibility study for the first stage of the project.

Located in Long Thanh District, the airport will be designed to handle 100 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo annually when the first stage is completed in 2025. — VNS
