HCM CITY (VNS)— The HCM City government has chosen a design by Japanese firm Nikken Sekkei for construction of its central administrative centre.

According to the jury who decided on the winning entry, Nikken Sekkei's design has a "good disposition".

The judges said the proposed removal of some heritage buildings on Ly Tu Trong, Dong Khoi streets would create a green space on Dong Khoi Street that is symmetrical to Chi Lang Park and add to the city's open space.

The administrative centre will be built on a prime location in the downtown area between Le Thanh Ton, Pasteur, Ly Tu Trong, and Dong Khoi Streets.

It will accommodate eight state and government agencies with 90 offices and divisions.

The centre is scheduled for completion by 2020. —VNS
