HA NOI (VNS) — Five people were swept away by raging flood waters in the central Quang Nam Province.

Three of the bodies have been recovered, while two people are still missing.

A sudden flood swept away four students of Le Thi Hong Gam primary school while they were bathing in the Lo Thung stream in Quang Nam's Tien Phuoc District yesterday afternoon.

Local authorities and people recovered the bodies of three students about 20m from the site of the accident last night, while one student was still missing.

The local authorities of Ba Commune in Quang Nam's mountainous Dong Giang District are also looking for Chau Van Sau, a 52-year-old resident of Ba Commune who was swept away by flood waters three days ago.

They found Sau's motorcycle about 20m from the site of the incident at Rua hill in Pa Lieng Hamlet in A Ting Commune.

Cold air has triggered moderate-to-heavy rainfall in the central provinces. Authorities have warned of the risk of flash floods in mountainous areas. — VNS
