HA NOI (VNS) — A sanitation worker at Noi Bai International Airport was fined VND7.5 million (US$350) on the charge of property theft at a restricted area of the airport.

Dao Thi Nghia, from Soc Son outskirt district in the capital was an employee of Hoan My Limited Company.

According to investigations, in late September, security personnel at Noi Bai International Airport discovered Nghia's bag containing a smartphone, which they believed was allegedly stolen.

When questioned by security-men, Nghia said the cell phone was a gift from her sister, but could not remember her telephone number and open cipher key.

Finally, she confessed that she had picked up the Samsung-brand cell phone from a rest room in Noi Bai International Airport's Terminal No 2. She said she knew that it had been forgotten there by a passenger.

A representative from Noi Bai International Airport said the authorities had implemented several useful measures to supervise the airport's workers and staff.

Whenever airport workers enter a restricted area, they are checked through a security gate. They must declare all personal property being taken with them, such as iPad, cell phone, laptop etc.—VNS
