HA NOI (VNS) — The body of a man believed to be a crewman, who reportedly died in a fishing vessel explosion off Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province last Tuesday, was found early today.

Do Xuan Truong, head of a rescue boat of the Vung Tau Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre in the southern province, who is coordinating the rescue work, said the body was found about eight nautical miles away from the site of the explosion.

This is the 13th body that has been found over six days of search efforts. Two fishermen are still missing.

Six local fishing vessels have been mobilised to find the missing men, he said.

Last Tuesday, the fishing vessel, number BV 97799 TS, carrying 18 crew members, was returning to shore from Con Dao Island in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, when a gas cylinder on the boat exploded.

All crew members were thrown into the sea. The boat sank immediately.

Three of the men were saved by local fishermen a day later, after they managed to hang onto a fishing net.

The three survivors and 12 bodies of the crew members were brought to shore. — VNS
