HA NOI (VNS) — Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien on Saturday said the National Co-ordination Centre for Organ Transplantation should call for private individuals or companies to buy helicopters to speed up organ deliveries.

Tien was visiting two patients of liver and heart transplants at Viet Duc Hospital in Ha Noi.

She said the Ministry of Health would talk with hospitals nationwide to formulate a process for the registration and management of organ donations.

She said if there were more organ donors, the ministry should have more specialised means of getting them to their destinations.

Tien said more information should be provided about the humane significance of organ donations.

She also said that five or six leading hospitals in Viet Nam were preparing to perform lung-pancreas transplants. — VNS
