HA NOI (VNS) — The remains of two US servicemen who died during the war in Viet Nam were handed over to the US at a ceremony at Da Nang International Airport yesterday, marking the 136th transfer of remains since 1973.
The remains were unearthed during the 120th joint field activities between Viet Nam and the US, and were examined by experts of both sides in Da Nang.
The remains will be sent to Hawaii for further examination.
Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Board of Directors of Viet Nam's Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP), the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the US Defence Attache Office in Ha Noi, the US Defence Department's POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the US MIA Office in Ha Noi. — VNS
