HA NOI (VNS) — Panasonic Viet Nam has committed to helping the National Fund for Vietnamese Children implement its programme of support for needy children as part of a donation agreement signed on Tuesday.
The VND600 million (US$26,700) donation will benefit some 11,000 children in 44 schools and social facilities in Viet Nam in 2015.
Last year, Panasonic donated 1,000 washing machines to the fund which benefitted some 10,000 children across more than 400 schools, social institutes and clinics nationwide.
The donation also marked the 5-year anniversary of Panasonic Risupia Viet Nam, the Ha Noi-based science centre founded by Panasonic Corporation in response to a suggestion from former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The centre welcomed nearly 250,000 visitors, including 180,000 students, and organised more than 300 workshops for nearly 11,000 children every weekend for the past five years.—VNS
