HCM CITY (VNS) — HCM City is set to celebrate the third annual festival highlighting its international integration, development and culture this week.

Sixteen countries will participate in the four-day HCM City – Development and Integration, which, targeted at foreigners living in the city, will offer an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreigners to showcase their cultural identities.

The celebration of culture will feature music shows, costume shows, a food fair, folk games, performances of traditional martial arts, and much more.

Besides international troupes, foreign communities living in HCM City will also put up art shows.

More than 500,000 foreigners live, study and work in the city, which also receives 4.5 million international visitors every year.

According to Le Ton Thanh, deputy director of the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, when the festival made its debut in 2013, there were 500,000 visitors.

The number was much higher last year, he said, adding that he hopes this year the number would increase further.

The festival opens at 23/9 Park on September 10. — VNS
