HA NOI (VNS) — Residents of Ha Noi and the northern provinces are expected to see heavy rains during National Day on September 2 with downpours of 300-400mm, warned the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The centre said yesterday that torrential rains would blanket the north region between August 31 and September 3.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Information and Communication's Press Department yesterday said it had yet to receive orders from the Central Committee for Celebration to alter activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of National Day on September 2 due to the expected heavy rains.

As planned, about 30,000 people will join a massive parade in Ha Noi's Ba Dinh Square on September 2 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day.

In another announcement, the forecasting centre predicted rain for the opening ceremony of school year 2015-16 on September 5, with downpours in the northern region. — VNS
