HA NOI (VNS) — Doctors from the Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Noi have saved an eight-month-old child suffering from meningitis.

Dong Quoc Viet, from the northern province of Nam Dinh, was hospitalised nearly two months ago after being admitted due to a high temperature, coughing, diarrhea and vomiting.

He had earlier been unsuccessfully treated at the Nam Dinh Hospital.

Nguyen Tien Dung, former head of the Paediatrics Ward at the hospital, said this was a rare case since meningitis left untreated for three to seven days might leave victims with blindness, paralysis or metal retardation. — VNS
