HA NOI (VNS) — The International Organisation of La Francophonie has organised a contest to promote creativity and innovation among young citizens in its member countries.
The contest marks the tenth anniversary of UNESCO's Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The organisation played a major role in ratifying the convention in 2005.
The convention, for the first time, recognised the specific characteristics of cultural products and services and the need for the State's management of the cultural sector.
The contest is for candidates aged 18-25. They can submit their entry in the form of a photograph, painting, cartoon, three-minute video clip or story by mid September to email@example.com. The maximum allowable file size for the entry is 10MB.
Winners will be invited to the organisation's Cultural Diversity Forum to be held in Mali in November, where their works will be displayed.
The International Organisation of La Francophonie, created in 1970, represents one of the largest linguistic zones in the world. Its mission is to embody the active solidarity between its 80 member states and governments (57 members and 23 observers), which together represent over one-third of the United Nations' member states and account for a population of more than 890 million people, including 220 million French speakers.
