HA NOI — More than 50,000 pirated books were seized today in a raid at a company in Gia Lam District, Ha Noi.

The police said it was the largest-ever number of pirated books seized so far.

The books were found in the storage of the Van Hien Education Investment and Consultancy Co., JSC, following a two-day spontaneous joint police operation.

The name of Viet Nam Education Publishing House was printed on the books as being the publisher. The books even had anti-counterfeit stamps identical to those issued by the Viet Nam Education Publishing House.

The publishing house later confirmed that the books, mostly English books for different school grades, and the stamps were fake.

Van Hien Company Director Trieu Quang Phu failed to present legal documents that could prove the place of origin of the books. —  VNS
