HA TINH (VNS) — Border guards in the central province of Ha Tinh, in collaboration with Lao police officers, arrested members of a trans-national drug ring, confiscating 5.5 tonnes of drugs, said Chief in Command of the provincial Border Guard Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vo Trong Hai yesterday.

Officials reported that eleven suspects, including 10 Lao nationals and one suspect from Thailand, were arrested in the Lao province of Bolykhamxay on July 23.

Police seized 3.5 tonnes of precursor, 2 tonnes of dry cannabis, a car and documents related to drug trafficking.

The case, the largest discovered through a joint operation by Lao police and Ha Tinh border guards, is under further investigation. — VNS
