HAI PHONG (VNS) — Officials of the Hai Phong Police yesterday rewarded the Economic Security Police Department and Kien An District Police for closing a fake identification producing business in Kien An District.
The head of the illegal business was Do Van Thang, 32, who lived in the district's Ngoc Son Ward.
When searching Thang's house, police seized a large number of fake identification papers, including 27 motorbike registrations, 35 identity cards, five automobile registrations and other fake identifications.
The police also discovered many fake seals of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Hai Phong Department of Transport, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training and the Hai Phong Police.
The investigation of the business is ongoing.
In another development, Hai Phong Police have apprehended a gang using high-tech equipment to illegally provide answers to students taking the national high school exam, which was held earlier this month.
An initial investigation showed that a woman named Nguyen Thi Huyen led the ring, and her co-workers were students from different universities in Ha Noi. They widely promoted their services on Facebook.
Officials report they disguised a mobile phone in candidates' calculators to take photographs of test questions. The candidates were then equipped with tiny phones to receive calls, in which they received the answers to the test.
Gang members provided answers during a mathematics test for Pham Xuan Lap, a student who took the exam in Hai Phong City. Officials said the gang correctly solved 8.5 out of 10 questions.
