HA NOI (VNS) — Four Vietnamese students have won awards at the 26th International Biology Olympiad that took place from July 12 to 19 in Aarhus, Denmark.
The Vietnamese students won one silver and two bronze medals along with a consolation prize.
The silver medal went to Le Thi Nguyet Hang from Le Quy Don, a school for gifted children in Da Nang City. Don scored 294.87 points, ranking 47th in the overall rankings.
The two bronze medals were presented to Pham Minh Duc from the northern Nam Dinh Province's Le Hong Phong School for gifted children and Le Xuan Luong from the school for gifted children of the University of Natural Science under Hanoi National University.
Duc and Luong ranked 76th and 116th, getting scores of 277.24 points and 255.36 points, respectively.
Pham Thi Yen Ngoc from Lam Son high school for gifted children in the northern Thanh Hoa Province scored 229.45 points, for which she received a consolation prize and was ranked 164th overall in the Olympiad.
About 239 students from 63 countries and territories participated in this year's contest.
A total of 26 gold, 48 silver and 72 bronze medals as well as 24 consolation prizes were presented to the most outstanding students.
The Chinese and American teams led the Olympiad, with all their students winning gold medals.
Viet Nam will host the 27th International Biology Olympiad in Ha Noi from July 17 to 24, 2016. — VNS
