QUANG BINH (VNS) — About 1,500 local people in the central Quang Binh Province took part in a blood donation event held in the locality yesterday.

The programme was part of the Red Journey Campaign that is organising the collection of 17,000 units of blood by travelling across 22 localities in the country. The campaign started earlier this month in HCM City and will end in Ha Noi on July 25.

The organisers collected 770 units of blood, including 12 units of the rare AB blood type, at yesterday's blood donation event in the central province.

The collected blood has been transferred to the Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in Hue Central Hospital, which organises blood transfusion in the central region.

One of the donated AB blood units helped to save the life of a patient who underwent surgery yesterday at the hospital. — VNS
