HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has requested Ha Noi's People's Committee to draft a plan for establishing a separate department of tourism for the capital.

Currently, the city has only one department of culture, sports and tourism. As the capital, Ha Noi has potential for further tourism development. The establishment of a separate department to regulate the city's tourism issues would boost tourism promotion and help utilise the city's strengths.

In the first six months of the year, more than 10 million visitors came to Ha Noi, an increase of four per cent over the same period last year. More than 1.6 million of these visitors were foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 8.8 per cent. — VNS
