DAK NONG (VNS) — The Ho Chi Minh Highway (National Highway 14) section running through the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong officially opened for traffic today.
The 159-km section, constructed on a total investment of VND1.39 trillion (US$63.9 million), consists of two build-operate-transfer projects and a Government-bond project.
The construction of the whole project began in March 2011 and was completed early this June, nearly a year ahead of schedule.
The road surface of the four-lane highway is 12 metres in width.
According to the Ministry of Transport, none of the contractors or consultant units were replaced for a lack of ability. Some contractors, such as Son Hai Co. Ltd., have committed to maintaining the highway for up to five years instead of four years required by the ministry's regulation. — VNS
