City hospital readies for MERS cases

HCM CITY (VNS) — HCM City's Paediatrics Hospital No.1 yesterday conducted a drill for handling patients suspected of having Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

The hospital has set aside an examination room and isolation rooms with more than 100 beds in its infectious diseases ward for MERS patients, Nguyen Thanh Hung, its director, said.

It has also put together necessary facilities, protective equipment and medicines to handle the disease.

In HCM City, suspected MERS patients will be sent to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases if they are adults and the Pediatrics Hospital No.1 and No.2 if case of children. — VNS
