HCM City (VNS) — The first Asian Undergraduate Summit (AUS) has opened in HCM City bringing together undergraduate students of diverse disciplines and providing them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful academic exchanges.
Dozens of students will join eight workshops, which start today and conclude on June 19 to discuss urgent world issues relating to climate change such as food security, water and energy management, the Voice of Vietnam reported.
The inaugural theme of the summit is Leadership in a Complex World: The Food, Water and Energy Nexus. In the context of the theme, participants are expected to be more sensitive and aware of possible linkages that may exist between previously independent issues.
As future leaders of the world, they are also expected to develop a better appreciation of the need for holistic and, multidisciplinary approaches and solutions to complex problems through the summit.
The AUS is a student-run international programme organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS), University Scholars Club (USC), and five leading universities in the ASEAN region. — VNS
