SON LA (VNS) — A Chinese woman was arrested and charged with human trafficking after she plotted to smuggle three Vietnamese girls to China, the police of northern province Son La said yesterday.

Duong Mui, 54, from Yunnan province in China, disguised as a Vietnamese named Giang Thi Dua from the northern border province of Lao Cai and persuaded the three girls from Son La, namely Giang Thi Phanh, 21, Ly Thi Xia, 17, and Song Thi Me, 19, from late April to early this month to move to China and marry Chinese men for a better life.

The three girls were told not to tell their families that they agreed to go to China with Mui.
