DA NANG (VNS) — A ship from the Japan Coast Guard docked at the central city's Tien Sa Port yesterday for a five-day visit with Viet Nam's Coast Guard Force, Zone 2.

The Yashima PLH22, and 59 crew members, is the third ship from the Japan Coast Guard to visit Viet Nam this year. It is led by Colonel Akihiro Hirano, and will include meetings to exchange and share experiences in anti-pirate patrols, joint-training, search and rescue skills in the sea, as well as sports competitions with Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre No 2 and the Vietnamese Coast Guard Force.

The visit aims to promote understanding and friendship among Coast Guard Forces between Viet Nam and Japan.

In 2003, the training ship Kojima of the Japan Coast Guard also visited Da Nang City.

A farewell ceremony will take place at Tien Sa port on Thursday. — VNS
