Peruvians arrested for attacking ATMs

HCM CITY (VNS) — Police have arrested four Peruvians accused of destroying an ATM to steal money in the central province of Khanh Hoa, said Phan Anh Minh, deputy director of HCM City Police.

The gang allegedly wrecked a Vietcombank ATM in Dien Khanh Town and took about VND1.4 billion (US$66,600).

Police believe they may have conducted similar break-ins in Ha Noi and Dong Nai southern province, said Minh.

On February 25, the gang is said to have destroyed an Agribank ATM in HCM City's District 2 and taken nearly VND1 billion ($47,600). — VNS
