HCM CITY (VNS) — The HCM City Police Department has arrested a group of four Peruvians for allegedly attempting to break into a JSC Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) ATM machine.

Major General Phan Anh Minh, deputy director of the department, said today the men broke into a post office in the central Khanh Hoa Province's Dien Khanh Township, in which the ATM was located, and tried to break into it with a cutting machine to steal about VND1.4 billion (US$64,400).

The HCM City police have transferred the case to the police in Khanh Hoa Province for further investigation.

They will also investigate whether the group was involved in breaking into a Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) ATM machine in HCM City's District 12 on February 25. — VNS
