Bus fares to increase during National Day holiday

HCM CITY (VNS) — The number of passengers travelling on key routes between HCM City and other localities is expected to increase during the National Day holiday next week.

The holiday comprises the Hung King anniversary (April 28), National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).

The Mien Dong Coach Station authorities said the number of passengers is expected to increase from April 27 to 29 by about three per cent over the same period last year.

The maximum number of passengers of 45,000 is expected on April 29.

Bus fares are expected to increase by about 30 per cent from April 26 to 29 on routes to southern provinces such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai, besides Binh Thuan.

Bus fares will be increased by about 40 per cent on routes to Tay Nguyen, Lam Dong (Central Highlands), Ninh Thuan and Da Lat provinces.

In addition, the Mien Tay Coach Station will deploy an additional 60 buses to handle the rush of passengers from April 28 to May 1, while the buses fares will be increased by 40 per cent from April 28 to 30.

The Sai Gon Railway Station would also add 84 more trips on routes from Ha Noi to HCM City and six more trips to other routes, along with promotional tickets, a representative of the Sai Gon Railway Passenger Transport Company said. — VNS
