HA NOI (VNS) — The Viet Nam General Department of Statistics on Wednesday said the number of foreign tourist arrivals dropped by 13.7 per cent in the first three months of 2015, year on year.
In the first three months of this year, more than two million foreign tourists came to Viet Nam. Among them, 1.7 million travelled by air, an 8 per cent fall, and more than 18,000 travelled by sea, a 36.7 per cent fall.
Those who used road transport were more than 289,000, a 25.8 per cent fall, the general department said.
However, the number of tourists coming from South Korea, Finland, Spain and Singapore, as well as Italy, the United States, Japan and Germany has increased dramatically.
Despite the fall in the number of tourists, the turnover was VND96,359 billion (US$4.4 billion), a 1.9 per cent increase compared with the same period last year. – VNS
