HA NOI (VNS)  — The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications has ordered three television service providers to stop transmission of nine unlicensed channels.

The ministry's Deputy Head Truong Minh Tuan made the statement this afternoon.

According to Tuan, the nine channels that would be suspended were all foreign, including True Sport HD, OPT1, Golf HD, Russia Today, True Tennis HD and four other channels that were broadcast on a trial basis.

The companies that broadcast the channels in question are Viet Nam Television Cable Corporation (VTVCab), Audio Visual Global (AVG) and the Viettel Corporation. Tuan said the companies had violated press laws by broadcasting the channels without a licence. — VNS
