HA NOI (VNS) — An eight-year-old Vietnamese girl was found dead in Cambodia's Svay Rieng Province, near the Viet Nam border yesterday.

Ngo Ngoc Phut was a second grade student at the Binh My 2 primary school in Binh My Commune, Cu Chi District, HCM City. She was reported missing after leaving school on January 26.

Despite considerable efforts made by her family and relevant agencies, no trace of her was found.

Nguyen Huu Hanh, Phut's father, said her body was found in a place near many casinos.

According to the People's Committee of Loi Thuan Commune, Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province, local authorities and border guards at the Moc Bai international border gate had handed over Phut's body to her family.

The police are conducting further investigations. — VNS
