DA NANG (VNS) — Authorities are razing to the ground two villas that were illegally built on Hai Van Mount.

On Thursday, Deputy Chairman of Lien Chieu District's People's Committee of Da Nang city Dam Quang Hung was present at the scene to watch the demolition.

The two villas belonged to Phan Nhu Thach, former director of Quang Nam Province's Police, and Ngo Van Quang, director of the Phuoc Minh gold mining company.

The demolition is expected to be completed in three to four days.

In February, the Lien Chieu District's People's Committee had announced that the villas' owners will be fined for building the illegal houses on land belonging to the Lang Van Resort project.

According to the decision, the two owners had to pay fines of VND22.5million (US$1,000) each, and were forced to demolish the houses. — VNS
